How it Finds You
There is a crack in everything. That's how the light gets in. — Leonard Cohen
Most of us spend our lives trying not to crack.
We reinforce. We protect. We build careful walls around the places that have been hurt before. We become, over time, quite good at it.
And then something cracks us open anyway.
It finds the place you forgot to protect. Or the place you thought was finally safe.
And there you are — walking through your ordinary day with something broken inside that nobody can see.
The first instinct is to close it back up. Return to the solid, contained version of yourself. The world rewards that version. It asks nothing of anyone.
But Cohen knew better.
The light knows where to go.
In. (Not out).
That's the only world that matters.
